Rightmove is not the only place to look for your dream home.

Property portals are the obvious source for finding your dream home, but never assume they are the only place. A ‘buying agent’ who you employ to find you your perfect home based on your strict criteria can, for an upfront fixed fee and then a percentage success fee, save you hours of time and present you with a choice of properties that really do tick all the boxes.

But, if instead you plan to do it the traditional way, and do all the leg work, then there is no substitute for registering your details with the estate agents serving the area within which you wish to live. By registering, they can do some of the leg work and will circulate new properties that are coming their way, even before they are listed on the open market or Rightmove.

Indeed, deals are often struck way before there is any marketing at all, where for example a seller approaches an estate agent for a valuation and they already know of someone who wants to buy in the area, you!
