Frances Gillett, assisted by Katherine Knapman of Trethowans LLP acted on behalf of the Dependants in relation to a fatal road traffic accident claim.  The partner and children of the deceased brought a claim against the Defendant company who were liable for the actions of driver of the vehicle which caused the accident.

Liability was disputed throughout the claim.  Detailed expert evidence was obtained from an accident reconstruction expert, forensic accountant and care expert.  Court proceedings were required but a settlement of the claim was achieved prior to Trial.  The total settlement for all Dependants was £620,000.  Court approval was required in relation to settlement for the minor Dependants with the money being invested in the Court Funds Office on their behalf.

The client gave the following comments:

“The work carried out by Frances and Katherine at Trethowans was exceptional. I was amazed at the level of detail that was covered in the case, there was nothing that wasn’t explored. The communication was also excellent, I was kept up to date with how they were getting on with the case at all times. I couldn’t recommend Trethowans enough.”
