Alana is a Senior Associate in the Employment team based in our Southampton Office. Alana advises individuals and businesses on all aspects of work, from recruitment to termination, and everything in between. Alana considers the relationships within a workforce to be fundamental to the success of a business.
Alana provides clients with advice and representation they need to enable them to focus on the day job.
Notable work highlights
- Alana has successfully defended a particularly vexatious claim for unfair dismissal in the Employment Tribunal and again in the Employment Appeal Tribunal with securing a costs order in the clients favour.
- Undertaking a thorough investigation into workplace culture, prompted whilst providing representation in respect of a claim for sex discrimination.
- Securing an appeal in the Employment Appeal Tribunal on a point of law regarding access to justice and an employment judge’s responsibility to a litigant in person.

Area of Expertise
- A particular interest in discrimination matters. Alana is able to provide practical advice to both employers and employees in respect of complex claims, particularly those matters involving disability and long-term absence.
- Alana has provided evidence in respect of APPG consultations on flexible working and NDAs in discrimination matters. She is currently working with a group of MPs regarding the scope of protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010.
