Notable work highlights
- Joanna is the main fee earner responsible (under supervision of a Partner) for a professional negligence claim issued in the Technology and Construction Court (a division of the High Court) which is valued at over £1 million. The claim involves highly technical arguments, the use of expert evidence and application of the relevant court rules and procedures.
- Joanna has assisted senior team members in a multi-million-pound insolvency dispute, which settled at a Mediation on favourable terms for the client. Joanna was present at the Mediation and assisted with settlement discussions.
- Joanna advised on a building contract dispute which resulted in a three-day County Court Trial and facilitated a settlement of the same before Judgment was handed down.
- Joanna has successfully negotiated a settlement worth c.£200,000 between a landlord client and its tenant (of a national restaurant) in relation to mid-term dilapidations, ensuring that the Tenant adheres to its obligations under the lease and puts the premises into a good state of repair.
- Joanna is advising on a high-value residential landlord and tenant dispute, involving a claim for possession and rent-arrears, and a counterclaim concerning multiple allegations of disrepair. The claim is worth in excess of £200,000.
- Joanna routinely advises landlords of both residential and commercial properties in relation to various matters, including lease terms and termination. Joanna has obtained several possession orders from the Court on behalf of her clients.
- Joanna routinely advises on business-to-business telecoms disputes.
- Joanna routinely advises on and facilitates forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), such as settlement discussions and mediation.
